Trainees receive free training gear, meals, accommodation, a monthly stipend, and medical benefits during the training period. After training, successful candidates enter a 12-month probation period as Constables.
Location and Availability
This recruitment is national, with training and placement occurring at locations determined by SAPS across South Africa.
Application Deadline
All applications must be submitted before 13 November 2026. Early application submission is advised to avoid last-minute technical issues.
How to Apply
Applications are accepted exclusively through the official SAPS eRecruitment online portal. Candidates must create an account, complete the applicant profile, then locate the Police Trainee vacancy using reference number TRA26/27. Only one application per candidate is permitted, so accuracy and completeness of the submitted information are crucial.
Access the application portal and vacancy listing via the official SAPS Police Trainee recruitment page or directly through the SAPS eRecruitment system.
Important Considerations Before Applying
Applicants should realistically assess their physical fitness levels against SAPS standards, which include specified limits for body mass index and waist circumference. Psychological and medical fitness are also part of the evaluation process. Those interested in a policing career should understand the demands and responsibilities of being a police officer, including irregular hours, physical risk, and community service.
Having tertiary qualifications such as a National Diploma or Degree in areas like Law, Policing, Criminology, or IT may provide opportunities for placement in specialised SAPS units but is not a requirement for the standard intake.
