About the Internship Programme

The programme includes 10 diverse internship streams such as Financial Management, Supply Chain Management, Public Management, Human Resource Management, Personal Assistant, Records Management, Information Communication Technology, Child and Youth Care, Community Development, and Communications.

The internships span over a 24-month period, providing structured workplace exposure with a monthly stipend of R8,172 for eligible candidates.

Who Can Apply?

  • Unemployed graduates must be residents of KwaZulu-Natal.
  • Candidates should hold a relevant minimum three-year Bachelor’s Degree or National/Advanced Diploma obtained from a recognized university, university of technology, or college.
  • Applicants must not have previously participated in any National, Provincial, or Local Government internship programme.
  • Applicants should be willing to relocate to their designated internship areas at their own cost and be computer literate.
  • The application process may include assessments and interviews.

Internships will be based at the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Social Development Head Office in Pietermaritzburg and across the following districts: Ugu, Umgungundlovu, Harry Gwala, eThekwini North, eThekwini South, iLembe, Zululand, Umkhanyakude, King Cetshwayo, uMzinyathi, uThukela, and Amajuba.
