The South African Local Government Association (SALGA) is currently accepting applications for its 2026/2027 Graduate Development Programme. This initiative targets unemployed South African graduates and offers practical work experience within local government structures nationwide.

About the Programme

The SALGA Graduate Development Programme runs for 12 months, providing participants with a stipend of R6,500 per month. The programme allows graduates to engage in activities such as research, analysis, project administration, and contribute to strengthening South Africa’s local government sector. Who Can Apply?

  • South African citizens
  • Unemployed graduates who have not previously participated in a similar graduate development programme
  • Graduates holding a recognized qualification relevant to one of the advertised disciplines

Qualifications accepted range from National Diplomas and Bachelor’s Degrees to postgraduate qualifications across diverse fields including Public Administration, Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Management, Town and Regional Planning, Law, Information Technology, Marketing, Communication, and Social Sciences.
