The South African Department of Home Affairs (DHA) is offering a 12-month Cadet Learnership Programme for 2026/2027, aimed at unemployed young people who have completed Grade 12 (Matric) or hold an equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification. This programme combines practical workplace experience with structured theoretical training within the Department’s Immigration Services.
About the Learnership
The Cadet Learnership provides young South Africans an opportunity to gain firsthand exposure to Immigration Services through experiential learning and formal study for the National Certificate in Immigration Services. Participants will receive a monthly stipend of R4,500 during their 12-month tenure. This initiative is part of the government’s effort to develop youth skills aligned with the National Development Plan, supported by the Public Service Sector Education and Training Authority (PSETA).
Who May Apply
Eligible applicants must be unemployed youth who have attained a National Senior Certificate (Matric) or an equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification. No university degree or diploma is required. However, those who have previously participated in any Public Service Youth Development Programme or are currently receiving government financial assistance for such programmes are not eligible.
Programme Locations
Positions are available in all nine provinces of South Africa, with specific posts allocated across multiple towns and cities, including but not limited to Gauteng, Eastern Cape, North West, Northern Cape, Mpumalanga, Free State, Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, and Limpopo. Preference will be given to applicants residing near the specific offices where learnership posts are based.
Application Requirements
- A fully completed New Z83 Application for Employment Form (effective from 2021).
- A comprehensive CV with detailed employment history, including dates (dd/mm/yy), job titles, responsibilities, reasons for leaving, and at least two contactable references.
- The correct post title and reference number for the position applied for, corresponding with the provincial location.
Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit copies of their South African ID document and Grade 12 certificate. Applicants with foreign qualifications must provide evaluations from the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).
