The Department of Employment and Labour is offering 103 Security Officer positions on one-year contracts across various offices and Labour Centres in the North West Province of South Africa. This government opportunity is targeted at applicants who meet specific security and educational qualifications.

About the Security Officer Positions

These contract roles involve securing Provincial Offices and Labour Centres by managing access control, protecting government information and assets, conducting patrols, enforcing security measures, and possibly undertaking internal security investigations. The salary offered is R201,093 per annum plus 37% in lieu of benefits.

To be eligible, applicants must at least have:

  • A Grade 12 / Senior Certificate
  • A Grade C Security Certificate issued by the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA)

This is not an entry-level security post, as candidates are required to provide proof of relevant security certification and experience.

Application Process and Important Guidelines

Applications must be submitted using the new Z83 Application for Employment form along with a detailed CV. Both documents must be submitted together as one attachment when applying online. Use the appropriate email address assigned for the preferred location and include the correct reference number.

Applications may also be posted or hand-delivered to the Department’s offices in Mmabatho. Online applications close at 23:59 on 18 September 2026, while walk-in applications close at 16:00 on the same day.

Applicants should avoid submitting one generic application to multiple addresses; instead, a separate application is required for each location.

Additional Considerations

Candidates should clearly demonstrate security-related work experience such as access control, visitor management, security patrols, incident reporting, asset protection, and conflict resolution in their CVs. The Department emphasizes adherence to security procedures and knowledge of policies such as the Access to Public Premises and Batho Pele principles.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for further assessments, which may include practical exercises and integrity checks. Certified copies of qualifications are required at the interview stage, not during the initial application.

This recruitment drive is part of the Department’s effort to promote equity and includes targets for race, gender, and disability representation.
