The University of South Africa (UNISA) is offering a Finance: Asset Management Internship Programme in 2026, providing three internship opportunities specifically for unemployed UNISA graduates in accounting-related fields. About the Internship Programme

This 12-month internship focuses on asset management in a finance environment, helping participants bridge the gap between academic studies and workplace requirements. While the internship does not function as an employment contract, successful candidates will receive an annual stipend of R127,576. The internship officially begins on 1 October 2026.

Who May Apply?

  • Unemployed South African citizens who are UNISA graduates.
  • Applicants must hold a relevant UNISA qualification equivalent to NQF Level 6 or higher.
  • The qualification must be related to Accounting, Accounting Science, or BCom in Accounting Science with Financial Accounting as a major.
  • Applicants must be no older than 35 years.
  • No previous work experience is allowed, and applicants who have been previously appointed by UNISA or other organisations will not be considered.
  • Applicants with disabilities are encouraged to apply, with preferential consideration aligned to UNISA’s Employment Equity Plan.

  • Diploma in Accounting
  • Diploma in Accounting Science
  • BCom in Accounting Science

Location and Available Positions

The internship takes place at UNISA’s Muckleneuk campus in Pretoria with three positions available.

Applicant Competencies

Applicants should demonstrate strong skills in computer literacy (especially Microsoft Office 365), communication, teamwork, confidentiality, time management, and attention to detail. These competencies can be reflected through academic achievements, volunteer work, or other relevant experiences.
