The Department of Land Reform and Rural Development (DLRRD) is offering the National Rural Youth Service Corps (NARYSEC) Solar Photovoltaic Service Technician Training Programme for 2026/2027. This initiative targets unemployed youth from rural areas within Hessequa Municipality in the Garden Route District, Western Cape.
About the Programme
This training programme provides 12 months of practical and theoretical instruction focused on solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, enabling participants to gain skills needed in South Africa’s growing solar-energy sector. The exit opportunity from the programme is employment, aimed at preparing youth for careers within renewable energy, electrical work, and technical maintenance roles.
Who Can Apply?
- South African youth aged between 18 and 35 years
- Residents of targeted rural areas within Hessequa Municipality
- Unemployed individuals or those actively involved in business
- Applicants must have a National Senior Certificate (Grade 12)
- Minimum 40% (Level 3) in Mathematics is required
- Minimum 40% (Level 3) in Physical Sciences, where such results are available
- No criminal record
- Persons with disabilities and applicants from all racial backgrounds are encouraged to apply
It is important to note that Mathematical Literacy does not meet the mathematics requirement; candidates with Mathematical Literacy should contact NARYSEC for clarification.
Programme Location and Duration
The training occurs within Hessequa Municipality, Garden Route District, Western Cape, lasting for 12 months. Additionally, successful candidates must attend a mandatory 9-week Youth Leadership Development Programme held at a central venue as part of the NARYSEC initiative.
