The Gauteng College of Nursing, under the Gauteng Department of Health, has announced the student nurse intake for 2027. This programme offers qualified Gauteng residents the chance to pursue a Diploma in Nursing, combining academic coursework with practical training at public healthcare facilities.
About the Programme
This Diploma in Nursing (R.171) intake integrates classroom education with supervised clinical practice in Gauteng’s public hospitals and clinics. The programme aims to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed for a nursing career through a mixture of theoretical learning and hands-on experience.
Eligibility and Requirements
Applicants must be South African citizens who live in and matriculated within Gauteng Province. The application is open to those holding one of the following qualifications:
- Senior Certificate (Standard 10): Minimum grades of D (Higher Grade) or C (Standard Grade) in English, Biology, and Mathematics; and a minimum M-score of 17.
- National Senior Certificate (Grade 12): Level 4 in English and Life Sciences, Level 4 in Mathematics or Level 5 in Mathematical Literacy, with a minimum Admission Point Score (APS) of 27 (Life Orientation counts as half in APS).
