AGSA & Solarpop Bursary Programme 2026 for South African Students with Outstanding Fees

The African Global Skills Academy (AGSA) in partnership with Solarpop has announced the AGSA/Solarpop Bursary Programme 2026, designed specifically for South African students who are currently enrolled at recognised higher education institutions and facing challenges with outstanding tuition fees for the 2026 academic year.

About the Bursary Programme

This bursary aims to assist deserving students already registered and struggling to settle their current year’s outstanding fees. Unlike bursaries primarily targeted at Grade 12 learners preparing for university entry, this programme focuses on those who are actively pursuing higher education and require financial relief to continue their studies without interruption caused by unpaid fees.

Who Is Eligible to Apply?

  • South African citizens studying full-time at recognised South African higher education institutions, including universities and public TVET colleges (confirmation required through the application portal).
  • Aged between 18 and 35 years.
  • Applicants must belong to one of the specified demographic groups: African, Coloured, or Indian.
  • Currently enrolled students with outstanding fees for the 2026 academic year.
  • Both male and female candidates are invited to apply.

Academic Fields and Qualifications

The bursary does not restrict eligibility by specific fields of study or qualifications. It accommodates students from various disciplines as long as they are registered at recognised South African tertiary institutions and meet the other eligibility criteria.

Required Application Documents

Applicants must prepare and submit the following documents as part of their application:

  • An updated Curriculum Vitae (CV) with accurate personal and educational details.
  • Certified copy of South African ID (certification no older than six months from submission date).
  • Certified Matric certificate (certification no older than six months).
  • Proof of current registration at a recognised South African higher education institution.
  • Latest academic transcript detailing current academic performance.
  • Most recent financial statement from the institution showing outstanding fees.
  • A motivational letter explaining the applicant’s academic situation, study programme, goals, and the necessity for financial assistance.
  • Medical certificate if applicable, for applicants living with disabilities.

Incomplete or unsupported applications will not be considered.

Application Process and Deadline

Applications are submitted online through AGSA’s official learner portal. Prospective applicants should ensure their scanned documents are clear, certified where necessary, and current according to stated requirements before submission. It is advisable to apply well before the deadline to avoid last-minute issues.

The closing date for submitting applications is 30 October 2026. Applicants who have not been contacted within three weeks after this date should consider their applications unsuccessful.

This bursary programme strictly prohibits any form of payment or fees promised in exchange for bursary awards; applicants should remain vigilant against scams.

Important Considerations Before Applying

This bursary specifically addresses outstanding fees for the 2026 academic year. It does not provide funding for new studies starting in 2027. Students seeking funding for future academic years should consider other opportunities.

Applicants are encouraged to explore multiple legitimate bursary and funding options beyond this programme, including various SETA bursaries and the NSFAS scheme, to enhance their chances of securing financial support.
