This 24-month internship is designed to provide unemployed South African graduates with practical workplace experience within the GPW’s operations, primarily based in Pretoria with a few roles in East London.

About the Internship Programme

The GPW Internship Programme for the 2027/2029 financial year aims to expose graduates to real-world work environments in various professional disciplines. The programme is a structured opportunity for participants to build skills and gain hands-on experience relevant to their qualifications under the guidance of experienced professionals. It is not a permanent employment contract but a developmental placement.

Who Can Apply?

  • Unemployed South African citizens
  • Graduates holding the required qualification for the specific internship area
  • Applicants who have not previously participated in any internship programme

GPW stresses that applicants must disclose any past internship participation, as failure to do so can lead to contract termination.

Available Internship Areas and Locations

There are 45 internship opportunities available within 37 different specialisations, including but not limited to:

  • Supply Chain Management and Logistics
  • Finance and Accounting
  • Public Administration and Law
  • Information Technology and Engineering
  • Graphic Design and Communications
  • Security Management, Occupational Health and Safety, Psychology

Most placements are in Pretoria, Gauteng. However, two Sales positions are located at the GPW Regional Warehouse in East London, Eastern Cape.

Programme Details and Stipend

The internship duration is 24 months, during which successful candidates will receive a monthly stipend of R8,174.75.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a detailed CV along with a completed official Z83 application form tailored for 2026 (new version). Only these two documents are required initially.

  1. Email: Send your application to [email protected], clearly stating the specific internship reference number in the email subject line. Attach only your CV and completed Z83 form. Avoid zipped files, images, or screenshots. Ensure email size does not exceed 2MB.
  2. Hand Delivery: Deliver your application documents in person to Government Printing Works, 389 Sophie De Bruyn Street, Pretoria. Use the correct new Z83 form for each internship applied to, referencing the specific position.

Important Notes Before Applying

  • Only shortlisted candidates will need to provide certified copies of qualifications and supporting documents upon request.
  • Applicants with foreign qualifications must submit evaluation results from the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).
  • Each application must be submitted separately for each internship area applying to, with the correct reference number.
  • Late, incomplete or non-compliant applications will not be considered.

Deadline

The closing date for applications is 19 October 2026. Hand-delivered applications must be received by 16:00 on the closing day and email applications must be submitted before 23:59.
