About the Bursary Programme

This bursary scheme addresses skills shortages in South Africa by supporting students registered full-time in their second, third, or fourth year of study at accredited South African universities. VWGA funds a range of study fields including Engineering, IT, Data Science, Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Digital Marketing, and Business Administration.

Who May Apply

  • South African-born citizens only
  • Full-time undergraduate students entering second to fourth year in 2027
  • Enrolled at a DHET or CHE-accredited South African tertiary institution
  • Studying a VWGA-approved qualification relevant to the bursary fields
  • Postgraduate students (Master’s or Doctoral) are not eligible

Academic Requirements

  • Minimum Grade 12 average: 70% with a Bachelor’s pass
  • Minimum tertiary academic average: 65%

What the Bursary Covers

The VWGA bursary extends beyond tuition fees to include accommodation, meals, books, stationery, a laptop for study, vacation work placements, mentoring, and additional educational support where needed. This multifaceted support enables bursars to gain valuable industry insight while completing their studies.

Obligations and Conditions

Applicants should be aware that accepting the bursary entails signing an agreement that includes a work-back employment commitment with Volkswagen Group Africa post-graduation. Continued eligibility depends on full-time study status and no concurrent external employment. Provision of academic transcripts and registration proof each year is required.
