The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE), in partnership with JB Marks Local Municipality and various stakeholders, is inviting young graduates residing in the JB Marks Local Municipality, North West, to apply for the NW-Inhouse Model Youth Environmental Services & Youth Graduate Projects 2026. This programme is designed to offer practical workplace experience and employability exposure for recent graduates in environmental-related fields.
About the Programme
This initiative forms part of the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) and targets youth aged between 18 and 35 years. It offers a six-month structured work experience opportunity that combines employment with environmental project participation within the JB Marks Local Municipality jurisdiction.
Who Can Apply?
- Applicants must have a National Senior Certificate (Matric) and a three-year qualification related to environmental studies or an equivalent three-year qualification totalling 360 credits.
- Preference is given to candidates who are Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET), with environmental management or related qualifications.
- Applicants must reside within the JB Marks Local Municipality area.
- Applicants should possess basic communication skills, an understanding of EPWP processes, and the ability to complete project tasks.
Programme Responsibilities
Successful candidates will engage in various environmental activities such as monitoring environmental indicators, participating in municipal environmental exercises, managing attendance registers, and supporting project supervision and administration. This exposure aims to enhance practical skills that are valuable for future employment in environmental, municipal, government, or non-governmental sectors.

The programme takes place within JB Marks Local Municipality in the North West province and runs for six months.
