The Limpopo Department of Health has announced its 2027 intake for student nurses at the Limpopo College of Nursing. This initiative seeks to train aspiring nurses through two full-time programmes, aiming to address the ongoing demand for qualified healthcare workers in the province.
About the Programmes
Applicants can choose between two study options:
- Diploma in Nursing (General) R.171: This is a three-year full-time course designed to prepare students for comprehensive nursing roles.
- Higher Certificate in Auxiliary Nursing R.169: A one-year full-time course focusing on auxiliary nursing skills.
Both programmes are conducted at the Limpopo College of Nursing and include practical training applicable to real-world healthcare settings.
Who May Apply
- South African citizens or permanent residents with a National Senior Certificate (Matric) or an equivalent qualification.
- Applicants from all five Limpopo districts—Capricorn, Mopani, Sekhukhune, Vhembe, and Waterberg—can apply.
- Enrolled nurses currently employed by the Department of Health in Limpopo may apply for the Diploma programme through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
Benefits and Career Path
Successful candidates will receive nationally recognised qualifications, equipping them for diverse roles in both public and private healthcare settings. Graduates can pursue employment opportunities in hospitals, clinics, and community health centres or continue their studies with advanced degrees such as a BTech or BSc in Nursing. The programmes emphasize practical skills, including patient care, medication administration, and health promotion.
